Accounting, Billing and Collections Specialist

Morris County, NJ
$55,000-$85,000+ depending on experience
Full-time | Monday–Friday onsite

We’re working with an established and growing business in Morris County looking to add an Accounting, Billing and Collections Specialist to its team.

The company operates within the property restoration and construction sector, supporting primarily residential insurance-related projects.

The role covers a mix of billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, vendor management and job costing.

They are open to candidates at different levels. This could suit someone with a few years of experience across billing, AR/AP or insurance administration who wants to broaden their accounting exposure, as well as a more experienced candidate with a wider project accounting background.

Responsibilities

  • Support accounts receivable, billing and collections.

  • Follow up on outstanding invoices and help resolve payment delays or discrepancies.

  • Communicate with customers, insurance-related contacts and internal project teams regarding billing and payment issues.

  • Maintain accurate AR records, payment statuses and collection notes.

  • Process accounts payable, vendor and subcontractor invoices.

  • Review AP invoices for accuracy and ensure costs are allocated to the correct jobs and projects.

  • Assist with vendor queries, payment status and payment scheduling.

  • Match invoices against approved work, purchase orders and project costs.

  • Allocate invoices and expenses accurately to individual jobs and projects.

  • Review project costs and identify missing or incorrectly allocated expenses.

  • Assist with purchase orders, job costing and general accounting administration.

  • Maintain accurate financial records within the company’s accounting and project-management systems.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience within billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, bookkeeping or general accounting.

  • Basic accounting knowledge and an understanding of how invoices, vendor bills, payments and expenses flow through a business.

  • Experience processing AP invoices and working with vendors or subcontractors would be beneficial.

  • Experience within construction, restoration, insurance, home services or another project-based environment would be beneficial.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Confident communicating with customers, vendors and internal teams.

  • Comfortable taking ownership of outstanding issues and following them through to resolution.

  • Comfortable working onsite in Morris County Monday–Friday.

  • Insurance experience would be a major advantage, particularly exposure to claims, carriers, adjusters, TPAs or insurance-related billing and collections.

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, AR Workflow, Alacrity, Contractor Connection, XactAnalysis, Xactimate or Symbility/CoreLogic would be highly beneficial.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role within an established and growing business, with the opportunity to gain broader exposure across billing, collections, AR, AP, vendor management, job costing and project accounting.

The company is open-minded on background and level. The priority is finding someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable dealing with billing, collections and day-to-day accounting issues, with particular interest in candidates who bring insurance-related experience alongside a solid accounting foundation.
